Shad, Rose Garden

I just discovered few days ago the hip-hop artist Shad via the track Rose Garden. Then I listened to his latest album Tsol and really appreciated it. Good samples, reminding me Jay-Z, quite obvious on the track Keep shining for instance and perfect flow. Both makes a good hip-hop including something of pop music. Enjoy !

N.E.R.D, God Bless Us All

I really started appreciate N.E.R.D with their new gold album Nothing. Here is a version of one of my prefered track of the album, God Bless Us All. Great track, great album.

Discodeine featuring Jarvis Cocker, Synchronize

Discodeine is a french electro duo. They are featuring Jarvis Cocker for this excellent track.

Jaqee, Pink Drunken Elephant

I just discovered Jaqee on a french radio. Her music is a mix of RnB, old-school reggae (meaning ska) and soul. And her voice is very near Macy Gray to me. A great mix !

Jaqee was born in Uganda and used to emigrate to Sweden. She realized a first album Blaqalixious in 2005, folllowed by a second Nouvelle d'amour in 2007.

If you don't know her yet, discover her single Moonshine video which is a beautiful creation. This track and Pink Drunken Elephant are from album Kokoo Girl released in 2009.

I'm currently discovering again General Elektriks album named Good city for dreamers, made famous with the track Raid the radio. I also like a lot the track Take Back The Instant. Here is the video.

Arcade Fire, The Wilderness Downtown

I want to share a nice project which is largely spread over the internet. I let you discover it.

I really like that. This is a real good example of what music industry should develop to bring a new value to music. And ease the way they share and sell music.

Enjoy!

The XX wins Mercury Prize

As you may have seen elsewhere The XX wins the Mercury Prize. Some competitors were Corinne Bailey Ray, Foals, Dizzee Rascal.

As I'm curious I had a look at the past nominees and winners of the prize. They are listed here. First prize was decerned to Primal Scream in '92. U2 and Simply Red were some of their competitors. Lists of past years for nominees are also impressive (Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Coldplay, Bloc Party...).

Ting Tings, Hands

Oh, here is a big event : the new single from the Ting Tings ! It's called Hands and is released on october the 11th.

If the other tracks of the album to come named Kunst are on the same line, The Ting Tings are definitely going to more electropop music. Big influence of the 80s in the music, images and also in Katie White's haircut !

Baden Baden, Anyone

I already knew Baden Baden but I have the chance to discover them live few weeks ago. ANd I really liked their music. Which is a mix of pop and folk. The music is well produced and I noticed the singer has a great voice.

Below is their single Anyone. The video was shot by Alexandre Saltiel

Socalled, You Are Never Alone

A good friend made me discover few days ago Socalled. They are giving a live in Paris at Cite de la Musique by beginning of september (i'll be on holidays).

Socalled is Josh Dolgin a canadian rapper. I would describe his music as a mix of hip-hop, folk, jazz and also funk. If you like hip-hop or jazz you'll probably like this.
